Sunday Community Dinners are held weekly at the 1st Baptist Church of Wickford at 44 Main Street, Wickford. The meal is free to all. St Bernard provides the meal once per month.
Emmanuel House Homeless Shelter is supported by St Bernard’s. There are collection containers in the Church gathering space and outside of the Parish Office. The shelter is always in need of new white socks, bath towels, twin size bedding, backpacks and travel size toiletries. Volunteers from the parish bring the items to Emmanuel House in Providence.
The North Kingstown Food Pantry is supported by St Bernard’s Parish. Collection bins are located in the entrance to the Church and food is transported to the pantry by volunteers. At special events, it is announced to bring food for the pantry as the Church cannot forget to feed the hungry.
St Bernard Tee-Ball is a great way to have fun for children of ages 3 through 6 years of age. It is held on Tuesdays on the parish grounds. This year, 2017, it was be hosted on May 30, June 6, 13 & 20th.
Summer Bible Camp is a week-long half day comp hosted at St Bernard’s new Parish Center for students in grades K through 5. There are a variety of activities including games, story time, crafts and snack time. The children learn about their faith in a fun and uplifting environment. The children make friends and St Bernard’s becomes their parish and a familiar and comfortable place. This year, 2017, the Bible Camp will run June 26 through June 30 from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to high school students entering college every year. The committee holds two major events each year: a quilt raffle and a Gala event with a silent auction and dinner.
Our Lady of Sorrows Support Group is a 6 week Bereavement Support Group which is geared specifically for parents who have suffered the loss of a Child. It does not matter how old you are or how long ago you suffered the loss, many have found that sharing their grief with others who have suffered a similar loss can be very productive and can help them to move from sorrow to hope. Our Lady of Sorrows Support Group fully embraces Catholic spirituality however non Catholics are welcome and may find many of the topics and the group interaction helpful. Anyone from any parish is welcome.
